Building a Miniature Slum Diorama in 1:64 Scale

Creating realistic dioramas is all about storytelling. For this small 1:64-scale slum scene, we wanted to capture the look of an improvised industrial corner where abandoned vehicles, scattered debris, and everyday activity come together to create a believable environment.

The scene combines die-cast cars with several 3D-printed accessories, including fences, concrete barriers, wheel chocks, pallets, crates, tires, a dumpster fire, and other small details that help bring the setting to life. While each piece is simple on its own, combining them creates a much more immersive display.

One of the advantages of 3D printing is the ability to add highly detailed accessories that are difficult to find elsewhere. Small elements such as fences, barriers, and roadside clutter can completely transform a plain shelf display into a realistic miniature world.

All accessories shown in this diorama (except the vehicles themselves) were designed and 3D printed by us and are available in our shop. Whether you're building an urban scene, junkyard, industrial yard, abandoned lot, or custom Hot Wheels display, these miniature details can help add depth and realism to your project.

Diorama building doesn't always require a large layout, sometimes a few carefully placed accessories and a handful of vehicles are enough to tell an interesting story.
